The Stony Brook men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season at Army last weekend. The Seawolves took on the host Black Knights, Marist and NJIT.
The duo of junior Jose Morales (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Alexandre Felisa (Boulogne, France) won two matches at No. 1 doubles, defeating a team from Marist and Army.
Morales and Felisa also were successful in singles. Morales picked up a win over Marist's Rudy Kurz, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles and a victory over Army's Mike Sienko, 8-6, at No. 3. Felisa was victorious over Army's Sam Lampman, 8-5, at No. 1 and 6-2, 6-3 over Justin Chan of Marist at No. 2.
Stony Brook picked up five singles wins over the Black Knights, including a dominating performance from sophomore Kenzo Kauffmann (La Croix, Switzerland), who beat Jose Hatala, 8-2, at No. 5 singles.
The Seawolves' top of the lineup against NJIT was strong as sophomores Raphael Termat (Nice, France) and Tyler Hoffman (Sayville, N.Y.) picked up wins. Termat rallied for a victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Markus Schultz, 2-6, 6-2, 10-5. Hoffman won his match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2
Senior Albert Fontova (Lleida, Spain) beat Carl Jedlinski, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.
Termat and Kauffmann topped the Marist duo of Dylan Fletcher and Fredrik Bjerke, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles. In addition to the individual victories posted by Morales and Felisa, Termat topped Joe Dube, 6-1, 6-2. Kauffmann and Fontova also took home singles wins against the Red Foxes.
Stony Brook will open the 2015 season against ASA College on January 30 at the National Tennis Center in Flushing.
