Stony Brook, N.Y. - Despite a season-high 460 yards of total offense, the Stony Brook football team fell to James Madison, 27-24, Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.
Senior Marcus Coker (Beltsville, Md.) enjoyed a big afternoon with 145 yards on the ground, the most as a Seawolf in 25 games, and a touchdown.
Junior Conor Bednarski (South Pasadena, Calif.) was 17 of 29 for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Will Tye (Middletown, Conn.) had 90 yards receiving and a touchdown. Senior Adrian Coxson (Baltimore, Md.) had the other touchdown reception on a 43-yard slant pattern late in the first quarter.
Senior Christian Ricard (Spencer, Mass.) and junior Victor Ochi (Valley Stream N.Y.) each had 2.0 sacks. Ricard led the Seawolves with 10 tackles and Ochi finished with a team-best 3.0 tackles for loss.
Stony Brook (4-6, 3-3) led 17-3 after sophomore Przemyslaw Popek's (Yonkers, N.Y.) career-long 43-yard field goal and 24-13 at halftime.
Stony Brook had scored on four of its first five drives in the first half. But the Seawolves were held scoreless in the second half.
James Madison (7-3, 4-2) quarterback Vad Lee passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns.
