Preview: The Stony Brook softball team will begin the 2014 season in the Southeast at the Georgia Tech-Kennesaw State Invite.  The Seawolves will play a total of five games against Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State.  Stony Brook lost to Georgia State, 1-0, in 2005 and beat Kennesaw State, 1-0, in 2010.  This will be the first contest against Georgia Tech.

About Georgia State: The Panthers enter this weekend with a 4-1 record, including a pair of wins against Indiana.  Junior Lauren Coleman batted .563 with 13 RBIs in last weekend's tournament, which earned her Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors.  Junior Callie Alford and senior Jessica Clifton were named to the preseason all-conference team.  Georgia State was picked to finish eighth in the eight-team league.

About Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets will take a 6-1 record into the tournament.  Georgia Tech, which has won six straight straight games, has belted nine home runs already.  Junior Kylie Kleinschmidt is 5-0 in the circle with a 0.25 ERA.  Senior Ashley Thomas was the 2013 ACC Player of the Year after hitting .417 with 30 RBIs last season.

About Kennesaw State: The Owls also enter the tournament with a .500 record or better, winning four of their first seven games.  Kennesaw State won two of three from Tennessee Tech last weekend. Sophomore Kara Chambers is the team's leading hitter with a .478 average.  Senior Amanda Henderson has earned three of the team's four wins.

Up Next: Stony Brook will head to North Carolina next weekend for the 49er Invite.
