STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Coming off a dominating season-opening victory over Central Connecticut State last Saturday, the Stony Brook football team opens Colonial Athletic Association play this Saturday when they welcome 13th-ranked New Hampshire to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium for a 7 p.m. game that will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook football clicked on all cylinders during Saturday night's season opener at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in the 38-9 victory over visiting Central Connecticut State. The Seawolves gained 475 yards of total offense led by a running attack that rattled off 345 of those yards. SBU's defense held CCSU to just 120 total yards of offense and just 69 yards after the Blue Devils' 51-yard touchdown pass on the first possession. Junior RB Stacey Bedell (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) and freshman RB Isaiah White (Medford, N.Y.) led the ground game. Bedell carried the ball 22 times for 133 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, while White had 17 carries for 103 yards. Redshirt freshman QB Joe Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.) added two rushing touchdowns in the victory. Defensively, senior DB Naim Cheeseboro (King of Prussia, Pa.) led the Seawolves with five tackles, while senior LB Julian Quintin (East Brunswick, N.J.) added his second career interception.
Opponent
UNH, ranked 13th in both the coaches’ poll and the STATS poll, is 1-1 this young season with a loss to at San Jose State and a win at Colgate. The Wildcats are led by junior RB Dalton Crosson who has 144 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns and also leads the team with seven receptions.
The Series
This will be the fourth meeting between the two CAA schools. UNH has claimed the three previous meetings, including each of the last two seasons. The Wildcats and Seawolves first met in 2006 when UNH earned a 62-7 victory in Durham. UNH also won, 31-13, in 2013 at Stony Brook and clawed out a 28-20 victory last season in Durham.

Stony Brook’s captains for the 2015 season are seniors QB Conor Bednarski (South Pasadena, Calif.), OL Jerry Hubshman (Dunmore, Pa.) and LB Jeremy Leggeiro (Bohemia, N.Y.).

Stony Brook Athletics begins a dynamic three-year agreement with Connoisseur Media Long Island, Long Island’s premier media cluster, to broadcast Seawolves’ football games beginning in the fall of 2015. Over the next three seasons, 94.3 The Shark will air all regular and postseason Stony Brook Football games. The radio agreement is the most comprehensive in the history of Stony Brook athletics, marking the first time that all football will air live on a commercial radio station. In addition to the large radio broadcast coverage area, Connoisseur Media Long Island also provides live streaming on all station websites, including 943TheShark.com, so fans around the world can listen via computer or mobile device. The broadcast stream is also live on StonyBrookAthletics.com. Broadcast veteran Josh Caray and former NFL star Erik Coleman will provide the call of every down during the season, while long-time Stony Brook radio personality Curt Hylton will provide pregame, halftime and postgame content.
Touchdown Pledge Drive
In conjunction with Uplifting Athletes, the Seawolves are holding a Touchdown Pledge Drive in 2015 in support of research for Medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor in children. With each touchdown scored this season, money will go towards raising awareness and research funds in honor of Joe Feminella, the Seawolves 16-year-old co-captain who was diagnosed with the disease when he was 5. The Stony Brook football team and Joe have enjoyed a relationship since 2009.
