West Point, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's soccer team (7-5-2, 2-2 AE) took a break from its grueling conference slate, dropping a non-conference game at Army West Point (7-5-1) by the score of 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Anatol's Reaction
"Tonight was a real challenge for us as we had a short turnaround from Sunday and were missing some important players," said head coach
Ryan Anatol. "Army jumped on us early but we battled back and had some really good moments. This group has shown that it can go on the road and battle all season but tonight we didn't do enough. I am confident that we will regroup and be ready for Saturday."
Highlights
- Army West Point set the tone early with a goal in the third minute by its leading goal scorer, Rex Epps.
- Riley Okheem scored the second Cadet goal in the 43rd minute on a header.
- Stony Brook's best chance came off the foot of junior Dela Agbotse (Accra, Ghana), but his shot was cleared off the line by an Army defender.
Notes
- Army held a 12-11 advantage in total shots but the Seawolves put 10 of their 11 shots on target.
