Seawolves travel upstate to face Albany, Binghamton

Albany, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team plays its final regular-season road conference weekend of 2016 with trips to Albany and Binghamton Friday and Saturday.

Last Time Out: New Hampshire
The Seawolves fell in four sets to New Hampshire Oct. 28 at Pritchard Gymnasium. Jordan Gels led Stony Brook with a career-high 13 kills, while Taylor Wilson added 12 and Maria Poole chipped in 11.

Scouting the Great Danes
Albany leads the America East at 8-1 with a 14-7 overall record. The Great Danes are 12-1 in their last 13 matches dating back to Sept. 10.

Laini Leindecker paces Albany with 3.04 kills/set, while Amanda Dolan leads the America East with 1.27 blocks/set. Nicole Otero has posted a conference-best 0.39 aces/set.

The Last Time We Met: Albany
Albany rebounded from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Seawolves in five sets at Pritchard Gymnasium Oct. 9. Taylor Wilson led the Seawolves with 16 kills, while Maria Poole chipped in a career-high 15 kills and Morgan Kath tallied a career-best 58 assists.

Scouting the Bearcats
Binghamton is having a resurgent 2016, as a 2-1 finish to conference play would give the Bearcats their first eight-win conference slate since 2010. The Bearcats have won four straight after opening America East play 2-3.

Freshman Lauren Kornmann leads the Bearcats and ranks third in the America East with 3.26 kills/set, while Kristella Morina is third in the America East with a .285 hitting percentage. Bianca Anderson is third in the conference with with 1.03 blocks/set and Bailey Walker is third with 4.67 digs/set.

The Last Time We Met: Binghamton
Taylor Wilson (21 kills) and McKyla Brooks (19) had career nights as the Seawolves downed Binghamton in four sets Oct. 7 at Pritchard Gymnasium.

Sophomore McKyla Brooks leads the America East with a .312 hitting percentage in 2016.

Sakowicz Sparking Seawolves
LeAnne Sakowicz has found numerous ways to contribute for Stony Brook in her freshman campaign. Sakowicz has performances of 10 kills, 27 assists (twice), 18 digs and five aces, all in separate matches.

Stony Brook will return home to begin a stretch of three matches in five days next week as Fairfield, Hartford and UMass Lowell come to town Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
