Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team was named America East Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Warney averaged 24.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in three wins last week.
He finished with career-highs of 16 field goals and 36 points against Hartford Monday and went for 22 points at UMBC Thursday.
Warney wrapped up the week with 16 points, eight rebounds and eight blocks vs. New Hampshire. He made a game-ending block to preserve a 59-58 victory.
The 6-8 forward is eight points away from breaking Emeka Smith's school record of 1,978 points and 29 away from becoming the third player in conference history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
