Des Moines, Iowa - Despite game-highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds from senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.), the Stony Brook men's basketball team fell to Kentucky, 85-57, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Warney shot 10 of 21 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free throw line.
Senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) added 10 points.
The Seawolves (26-7), the 13th seed in the East, outrebounded the fourth-seed Wildcats, 46-44.
Jamal Murray led five Kentucky (27-8) players in double figures with 19 points.
Turning Point
Stony Brook hung tough with Kentucky through the first nine-plus minutes of the first half. Sophomore DeShaun Thrower (Muskegon, Mich.) tied the game at 10 with 11:25 left in the first 30 minutes. But the Wildcats outscored the Seawolves, 23-9, the rest of the first half.

• The 25 offensive rebounds by Stony Brook were the most by a Kentucky opponent this season.
• LSU also grabbed 46 rebounds against Kentucky on January 5.
