Seawolves fall in three sets at Hofstra

Hempstead, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team was defeated by Hofstra in straight sets (19-25, 25-27, 21-25) Tuesday night at the David S. Mack Fitness Center. In the defeat, the Seawolves fall to 1-3, while the Pride improves to 4-0.

Turning Point
The Seawolves led 21-16 in the second set before the Pride stormed back to take the set 27-25 and win the match in three sets.

By the Numbers
- Sophomore McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) had a career-high eight blocks to go along with eight kills.
- Freshman Jordan Gels (Lewis Center, Ohio) was tied for the team-high with eight kills and added four digs.
- Junior Melann Amory (Center Valley, Pa.) tallied a team-high 12 digs.
- The Seawolves were outhit .250-.131 in the match.

Notes
- Brooks' eight blocks were the most by an America East player in a three-set match since Binghamton's Bianca Anderson tallied 10 blocks vs. Siena Sept. 8, 2014.
- The Seawolves fall to 1-4 against the Pride in the Division I era.
- Stony Brook is 1-2 in three-set matches this season.

The Seawolves travel to Louisville, Kentucky, this weekend for three matches at the Active Ankle Challenge. The first match of the weekend will be against Auburn, Friday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m.
