Last Time Out: American/Fort Wayne
The Seawolves split a pair of matches at the Hofstra/Stony Brook Invitational, falling to American Friday night before a thrilling, come-from-behind win over Fort Wayne Saturday morning. The Seawolves trailed the Mastodons 0-2 at the break before coming back to win the match in five. Maria Poole was named to the all-tournament team.
Scouting the Rams
Fordham is 7-7 on the year following a 1-2 weekend at Columbia's home tournament. The Rams picked up a win over Hartford before falling to Columbia and Providence.
Olivia Fairchild leads the Rams with 4.07 kills/set and 32 aces, while Maddy Walsh has posted a team-high 10.00 assists/set. Morgan Williams paces Fordham with 3.93 digs/set.
The Last Time We Met: Fordham
McKyla Brooks, Kathy Fletcher and Stephanie McFadden each had nine kills and the Seawolves hit .379 as a team on their way to a sweep of the Rams last Sept. 22 in the Bronx.
New York State of Mind
The Seawolves have defeated nine New York State opponents since Coach Pawlikowski took over in 2013 (Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Columbia, Fordham, Iona, Manhattan, St. Francis Brooklyn, Syracuse).
Pulverizing the Competition
Freshman Liz Pulver has recorded 3.64 kills/set over her last three matches, including a career-best 23-kill effort Saturday vs. Fort Wayne.
Poole, Swimming in Awards
Freshman Maria Poole was named to the all-tournament team in two of the Seawolves' nonconference invitationals - the Art Carmichael Invitational at Rhode Island and the Hofstra/Stony Brook Invitational.
The Freshmen
All five Seawolves freshmen have started at least two matches this season. The quintet combined for 69.2% of the Seawolves' kills last weekend.
Serrano Named to Stony Brook Hall of Fame
Seawolves alum Jessica Serrano-Plugues '00, the program's all-time leader in kills with 2,205, will be inducted into the Stony Brook Athletics Rita and Kurt Eppenstein Hall of Fame October 14.
