The Seawolves were taken to five sets for the third straight match, but were unable to replicate the result of the first two, falling in five to UMBC in Friday night's America East opener.
Scouting the Pioneers
Sacred Heart enters Tuesday on a five-match winning streak with all five victories - Idaho State, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn - coming in four sets. The Pioneers are 2-0 to open NEC play.
Sarah Krufka leads the Pioneers with 3.69 kills/set while hitting .282. Ana Gonzalez's 3.22 digs/set lead the team. The Pioneers are 18th in the nation in aces/set (1.75), 19th in assists/set (13.24) and 42nd in kills/set (13.94).
The Last Time We Met: Sacred Heart
The Seawolves hit .384 in a sweep of the Pioneers Oct. 20, 2015, at Pritchard Gymnasium. Stephanie McFadden hit .737 with 14 kills and four blocks, while Kathy Fletcher tallied 15 kills and seven digs. Stony Brook used just seven players in the win.

Sakowicz Sparking Seawolves
LeAnne Sakowicz has found numerous ways to contribute for Stony Brook in the first half of her freshman campaign. Sakowicz has the Seawolves' top dig performance of the year (18 vs. Fort Wayne), along with performances of 10 kills, 27 assists and five aces, all in separate matches.
Challenging Slate to Open the Year
The Seawolves played seven of their first 12 matches against teams that finished the 2015 season with an RPI of 106 or better.
Serrano Named to Stony Brook Hall of Fame
Seawolves alum Jessica Serrano-Plugues '00, the program's all-time leader in kills with 2,205, will be inducted into the Stony Brook Athletics Rita and Kurt Eppenstein Hall of Fame October 14.
