Opponent
Temple opened the season with a loss at home to Army last Friday night. The Owls, who went 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the American Athletic Conference in 2015, return six starters on offense and seven on defense. Matt Rhule, in his fourth season as head coach, leads Temple.

The Series
This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Captains
Stony Brook's captains for the 2016 season are graduate WR Tim Keith, senior DB Jaheem Woods, senior DL Aaron Thompson, junior DB Tyrice Beverette and junior RB Stacey Bedell.

Against the FBS
Saturday's game will mark the eighth time Stony Brook will face a FBS opponent on the gridiron. The Seawolves are 1-6 against FBS teams in the previous meetings. Stony Brook faced Toledo to open the season in 2015, but the game was not completed due to weather.

Chopping Woods
Senior DB Jaheem Woods earned CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week and STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the season opening victory over No. 19 North Dakota. The Neptune N.J., native recorded a career-high 11 tackles, four tackles for loss and a pair sacks. His final sack pinned UND deep in its own territory and led to a game-winning blocked punt.

Among the Ranks
With last week's victory over No. 19 North Dakota, Stony Brook earned their way into the national rankings. The Seawolves are 24th in the HERO FCS poll, while also receiving votes in both the FCS Coaches poll and the STATS FCS poll.

Up Next
Stony Brook returns home to open CAA Football play when second-ranked Richmond invades Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Satruday at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network.
