Nine with ties to athletics to be honored at annual 40 under Forty Alumni Awards



STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook University has named the members of its third annual 40 Under Forty Alumni Awards. The University will celebrate these early career high achievers at an awards event on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Three Sixty°, 10 Desbrosses Street in New York City.
 
Selected from a diverse nominee pool of Stony Brook graduates, the honorees represent the University's most creative and bold young professionals in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, as well as business, sports, and the arts, from groundbreaking researchers and tech innovators, to healthcare advocates and civic heroes.
 
Among the list are nine former student-athletes. The list includes:

Jameel Warney '16 (bio): Current member of the Texas Legends of the NBDL and Seawolves' men's basketball career leader in both points and rebounds.

Will Tye '16 (bio): Current member of the NFL's New York Giants and former Seawolves' football star.

Tom Koehler '08 (bio): Current Miami Marlins pitcher and Stony Brook Athletics Hall of Famer.

Dani Klupenger '13 (bio): Current Los Angeles Rams reporter and former Stony Brook women's basketball star.

Jason Lantier '03, '16 (bio): The co-founder of Luv Michael and former Stony Brook football player.

Captian Jophiel Philips '05 (bio): Current Air Force Captain, a Bronzed Star Medal and Purple Heart recipient and former Seawolves' football player.

Chevon Andre Brooks, Esq. '01 (bio): Current attorney and partner and Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. and former track and field athlete.

Nihal Advani '07 (bio): Founder and CEO of Georama and former Stony Brook tennis player.

Lucy (Van Dalen) Oliver '11, '12 (bio): and two-time Olympian, NCAA track champion and member of the Stony Brook Athletics Hall of Fame.
