STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's soccer hosts a pair of America East contests this week. The Seawolves will take on Vermont on Wednesday, Oct. 11 (7 p.m.), and then square off with Hartford on Sunday, Oct. 15 (4 p.m.).
Latest in Stony Brook Men's Soccer
The Seawolves enter the week at 6-3-3 (0-1-1 AEC) so far this season. The program played to both a win and a loss last week
– topping Sacred Heart, 4-1, on Oct. 3 and then falling vs. UMass Lowell, 1-0, on Oct. 7.
Scouting Vermont
- UVM heads into Wednesday's game with a 6-6-0 record (1-1-0 AEC). Vermont fell vs. Albany, 1-0, its last time out on Oct. 7.
- Geo Alves has paced the Catamounts offensively, recording six goals and three assists in 2017.
- Stony Brook is 6-9-3 all-time vs. Vermont. The Seawolves fell, 2-1, in the last meeting between the two teams on Oct. 5, 2016.

The Seawolves check in at No. 10 in the latest
United Soccer Coaches East Region poll. The program has been ranked in the East Region's Top 10 in six consecutive weeks to begin the 2017 season.
Offensive Pressure
Stony Brook has attempted an America East-best 170 shots so far this year. New Hampshire ranks No. 2, having recorded 159 shots, to date.
Erdei Keeps Scoring
With two goals in Stony Brook's win over Sacred Heart on Oct. 3, senior forward
Vince Erdei (Budapest Hungary) now has 21 career goals
– which ranks No. 10 all-time in program history. Erdei has seven goals so far in 2017, the most of any America East player.
McMahon The Man
Senior goalkeeper
Tom McMahon (Nassau Bay, Texas) has 13 career shutouts, which ranks No. 3 all-time for the Seawolves. McMahon needs just six more shutouts to break the program's all-time record. McMahon ranks No. 1 in the America East conference in saves (33) and save percentage (4.57) so far this season.
Anatol Hits 50 Victories
With a win over CCSU on Sept. 6, Stony Brook head coach
Ryan Anatol surpassed the 50-win mark for his career as a Division I head coach. Anatol has guided the program to 53 career victories in his time at Stony Brook.
2017 Preseason Poll
The Seawolves were selected to finish third in the 2017 America East Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
2016 Season
Stony Brook went 9-6-3 (4-2-1 America East) last season, earning the No. 1 seed in the 2016 America East Tournament. The Seawolves achieved their highest RPI ranking in program history (43) during the course of the year, and head into 2017 with nine returning starters.
America East Success
As a whole, the America East Conference finished with the nation's third-best RPI behind only the ACC and Big Ten in men's soccer. Seven total teams finished in the top 80 of the RPI, as America East men's soccer programs combined to go 53-23-12 (.670) against non-conference opponents.
