STONY BROOK, N.Y. – It was members of the Stony Brook football team's junior class that shined on Senior Day in the Seawolves 38-10 victory over non-conference foe Wagner on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
All of the Seawolves (8-2, 6-1 CAA Football) 38 points were a result of juniors, including pair of rushing touchdowns by RB
Jordan Gowins (Bellport, N.Y.) and two passing scored by QB
Joe Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.).
Defensively, Stony Brook shutout Wagner (3-7, 1-4 NEC) in the second half and forced the Seahawks into three turnovers in the second half.
Scoring
- Wagner cracked the scoreboard first with a 29-yard field goal by PK James Cooper with 7:56 left in the first quarter. The drive was 13 plays for 58 yards.
- Stony Brook bounced right back and got on the board with a 12-yard touchdown pass from QB Joe Carbone to WR Harrison Jackson. The PAT by PK Nick Courtney was good. The drive was two plays for 14 yards and was set up by a 71-yard kickoff return by DB Darin Peart.
- Wagner retook the lead with a 29-yard touchdown run by RB Ryan Fulse with 0:10 left in the first quarter. The PAT by PK James Cooper was good. The drive was five plays for 50 yards.
- The Seawolves retook the lead on the ensuing drive when RB Jordan Gowins took it in the end zone from 17 yards out. The PAT by PK Nick Courtney was good. The drive was six plays for 44 yards.
- RB Donald Liotine scampered 45 yards for a touchdown on the Seawolves' opening drive of the second half. The PAT by PK Nick Courtney was good. The drive was one play for 45 yards and started after Stony Brook forced a fumble in Wagner territory.
- The Seawolves added to their lead when RB Jordan Gowins scored from one yard out in the third quarter. The PAT by PK Nick Courtney was good. The drive was seven plays for 70 yards and was sparked by a 53-yard run by Gowins.
- PK Nick Courtney knocked in a 24-yard field goal with 12:52 remaining in the fourth quarter to extend the Seawolves lead to 31-10. The drive was 10 plays for 79 yards.
- Stony Brook added to the lead when QB Joe Carbone found WR Donavin Washington in the end zone with a 21-yard pass with 10:58 left in the fourth quarter. The PAT by PK Nick Courtney was good. The drive was three plays for 23 yards and was started when the Seawolves defense forced a fumble deep in Wagner territory.

"We have a saying around here that it is tough to wins games on Saturdays. Both teams prepared for the game and certainly it was no different than I though it would be. I thought it would be a competitive game."
"I was not happy with our overall performance in the first half, but we stuck to what we had to do and made some plays. We gathered a halftime and took care of the problems we had and were successful with what we did in the second half. A lot of kids stepped to the plate."

- WR Ray Bolden moved up to third on Stony Brook's career receiving yards list with 33 yards in today's game to bring his career total to 2,070 yards. He passed Lynell Suggs (2004-08) and Dwayne Eley (2005-08). Bolden also now has 169 career receptions and needs 20 to pass Glenn Saenz's (1992-96) career record of 188.
- DB Darin Peart extended his consecutive starts streak to 31 straight games.
- DB Tyrice Beverette has now started 21 straight games, while OL Jackson Miller and LBs Shayne Lawless and Noah McGinty extended their start streak to 20.
- The senior class Darin Peart, Travon Reid-Segure, Sherman Alston Jr., Tyrice Beverette, Ray Bolden, Chris Cooper, Pat Irwin, Stacey Bedell, Quinton Littlejohn, Anthony Anderson, Humphrey Anuh, Harrison Jackson, Armani Garrick, Timon Parris, Jackson Miller, P.J.
