STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Five different Stony Brook players scored in double figures at Island Federal Credit Union Arena on Wednesday night, leading the Seawolves past Shawnee State, 101-58.
With the win, Stony Brook improves to 2-5 so far in 2017-18.

"I was really happy with our effort," said head coach
Jeff Boals. "Coming in to the game, our goal was to compete for 40 minutes and play hard. I thought we had a really good practice yesterday leading into the game, and I was pleased with the result."
Highlights
- Stony Brook shot a season-best 54.7 percent from the floor in the win, knocking down 12 shots from 3-point attempts.
- Bryan Sekunda (State College, Pa.) led the offensive charge for the Seawolves, scoring 21 total points to tie his career high. The senior shot 6-of-7 from 3-point range, knocking down all of his shots from distance in the first half of play.
- Freshman Jordan McKenzie (Concord, N.C) chipped in with a season-high 16 points of his own, adding four assists. McKenzie knocked down four 3-pointers in the win.
- Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.) also had a season-high 16 points. The freshman also pulled down four rebounds in the victory.
- Junior Saintel (Mays Landing, N.J.) tallied his second double-double of the year, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
- Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) added 10 points and five rebounds for Stony Brook, sinking a team-best six free throws.
Notes
- The Seawolves scored over 100 points for the first time since Nov. 14, 2015 vs. USMMA. The last time Stony Brook collected a 40-point win was on Nov. 28, 2015 vs. Farmingdale State.
- Stony Brook opened up the contest on an 11-0 run over the first 2:29. McKenzie started the run, stealing a pass on Shawnee State's first possession and finishing at the rim on the other end.
- The Seawolves shot 65.5 percent (19-for-29) in the first half, knocking down eight 3-pointers.
- Stony Brook tallied 46 points in the paint, while Shawnee State recorded just 22. The Seawolves' bench scored 51 total points on the night.
