Seawolves begin postseason play at New Hampshire in America East Quarterfinals

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's soccer begins postseason play on Saturday, traveling to New Hampshire for a 7 p.m. contest. The No. 6 Seawolves will take on the No. 3 Wildcats in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 America East Men's Soccer Championship.

The Seawolves enter postseason play with a 7-5-5 (1-3-3 AEC) record. Stony Brook most recently topped UMBC, 2-0, on Nov. 1 to clinch a spot in the postseason conference tournament.

 Scouting New Hampshire
-  UNH enters postseason play with a 11-2-4 (4-2-1 AEC) record, earning the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. The Wildcats won five of their last seven contests to close out the regular season.
- Robin Schmidt has a team-high six goals in 2017.
- Stony Brook is 6-7-5 all-time vs. New Hampshire. The Wildcats won meeting between the two programs, 2-0, on Oct. 21, 2017.
 
Offensive Pressure
Stony Brook has attempted 230 shots so far this year. The Seawolves have averaged 13.53 shots per contest, which ranks No. 3 in the America East.

Anatol Hits 50 Victories
With a win over CCSU on Sept. 6, Stony Brook head coach Ryan Anatol surpassed the 50-win mark for his career as a Division I head coach. Anatol has guided the program to 53 career victories in his time at Stony Brook.
 
2017 Preseason Poll
The Seawolves were selected to finish third in the 2017 America East Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
 
2016 Season
Stony Brook went 9-6-3 (4-2-1 America East) last season, earning the No. 1 seed in the 2016 America East Tournament. The Seawolves achieved their highest RPI ranking in program history (43) during the course of the year, and head into 2017 with nine returning starters.
 
America East Success
As a whole, the America East Conference finished with the nation's third-best RPI behind only the ACC and Big Ten in men's soccer. Seven total teams finished in the top 80 of the RPI, as America East men's soccer programs combined to go 53-23-12 (.670) against non-conference opponents.
