Stony Brook hosts Vermont Sunday for Senior Day

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's basketball team plays Vermont Sunday on Senior Day with major seeding implications on the line for the upcoming America East Championship.

Scouting the Catamounts
Vermont enters Sunday tied with the Seawolves for seventh in the America East. The winner of Sunday's game will claim the No. 7 seed and face either Albany or UMBC, while the loser will be the No. 8 seed and face New Hampshire.

Sydney Smith leads Vermont with 12.1 points per game, while Hanna Crymble has averaged 11.4. Vermont is shooting a conference-low 37-percent from the field, but holding teams to a conference-best 36-percent.

Series History vs. Vermont
Stony Brook is 14-18 against Vermont in the Division I era. The Seawolves are 6-3 against the Catamounts in their last nine meetings.

Vermont defeated Stony Brook 53-43 in the first meeting of the year Jan. 28 in Burlington. Elizabeth Manner led the Seawolves with 14 points. 

Scognamiglio's Double-Double Leads the Way vs. UMBC
Senior Christa Scognamiglio tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Ayshia Baker had a career-high 11 points in Wednesday's 51-37 win over UMBC.

The Seawolves held the Retrievers to just six points in the first 17 minutes of the game.

KBW Breaks Assist Record; Reaches 1,000 Points
Senior Kori Bayne-Walker tallied six assists in the Jan. 16 win over UMass Lowell to break the all-time program record. Her fourth assist of the day - a second-quarter dish to Elizabeth Manner - passed Mykeema Ford with the 418th of her career. Bayne-Walker enters Sunday with 463 career assists.

Bayne-Walker became Stony Brook's 17th 1,000-point scorer Feb. 18 with a 24-point outing.

Senior Guards Leading the Charge
Senior Kori Bayne-Walker leads all America East guards in field-goal percentage with a 46.8-percent mark from the floor.

Senior Christa Scognamiglio has grabbed 5.8 rebounds per game, which leads all conference guards.

Next Up: America East Quarterfinals
Stony Brook will be back in action Saturday for the America East Quarterfinals. The time and opponent of Saturday's game will be determined Sunday afternoon.
