Herrmann, Rodliff and Pinto combined for five-hit shutout of UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Freshman RHP Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.), junior LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Ma.) and junior RHP Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) combined for a five-hit shutout that helped the Stony Brook baseball team to a 7-0 victory over UCSB on Sunday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

The victory for the Seawolves (5-12) was the 750th in the 27-year career of head coach Matt Senk.

Herrmann allowed just three hits in five innings of work to earn his first collegiate victory, while Rodliff allowed one hit in three innings of relief work and Pinto pitched a scoreless the ninth inning.

Offensively, Stony Brook pounded out 12 hits, including two hits each from senior C David Real (Chandler, Ariz.), senior CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) and senior 3B Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.).  Handley and freshman DH Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) both belted two-run home runs, while Real and Giles also recorded RBI hits.

Turning Point
Stony Brook took its first lead of the series with a single run in the third inning and that proved to be all the Seawolves would need. Real doubled home sophomore 2B Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) who reached base on a bunt single.
