Herrmann's gem lifts Seawolves to series win over Hartford

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Freshman RHP Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) led the Stony Brook baseball team to a 14-0 victory over Hartford on at Joe Nathan Field on Saturday afternoon to help the Seawolves take the America East Conference series against the Hawks.

Herrmann tossed 7.0 innings and scattered three hits, while he struck out five for the Seawolves (8-13, 2-1 AE). Redshirt freshman RHP Greg Marino (Centereach, N.Y.) pitched the final two innings to preserve the shutout over the Hawks (3-11, 1-2 AE).

Offensively, Stony Brook came out the gate strong with six runs in the first inning capped by sophomore RF Dylan Resk's (Ardsley, N.Y.) three-run home run.

Sophomore 2B Brandon Janofsky (Jackson, N.J.) added a pair of hits and scored three times, while freshman SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) and junior LF Andruw Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) each collected two RBI.

Turning Point
Stony Brook jumped on Hartford early with six runs in the bottom of the first inning on just two hits. The two hits were the two-run single to right field by freshman SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) and the three-run home run by sophomore RF Dylan Resk's (Ardsley, N.Y.).

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"I'm extremely proud of the team for the way they came back off the really disappointing tough loss to start the series. They bounced back yesterday and came out fully ready to play and take this series. We played a complete game to take the first conference series of the year."
