WEST HARTFORD, C.T. – Stony Brook softball swept a pair of America East Conference games vs. Hartford on Thursday afternoon at Hartford Softball Field. The Seawolves took Game 1 by the final score of 12-0, then hung on to win Game 2 by three runs, 9-6. With the pair of victories, Stony Brook improves to 9-18 on the season (5-2 AEC).
Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) earned both victories in the circle, giving her six wins so far this season. She also went 5-for-8 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored.
Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) led the way offensively, going 6-for-9 with three RBI's and two runs scored.
Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) chipped in with a 4-for-7 effort and two RBI's, and leadoff hitter
Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) was 4-for-8 with two runs and two RBI's.

Game 1: Stony Brook 12, Hartford 0
- The Seawolves scored 12 runs in five innings, which is tied for their highest run total in a game this season. Stony Brook also recorded 16 hits – its second-highest mark in 2017.
- Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.), Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) and Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) each had two hits and 2 RBI's in the win.
- Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.), Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.), Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) and Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) each added two hits and one RBI.
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) tossed her fifth complete game of the season, going all 5.0 innings. She gave up just two hits and struck out three Hartford batters in the shutout.
Game 2: Stony Brook 9, Hartford 6
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) went 4-for-5 from the plate with two runs scored and an RBI, and earned her second win of the day in the circle. She pitched the final 2.2 innings, giving up just two hits and no runs to go along with three strikeouts.
- Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) also went 4-for-5 from the plate, driving in two runs from the cleanup spot.
- Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) plated the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning, lifting a sacrifice fly to center field to plate Rivera and make it 7-6.
- Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) added a pair of hits and two RBI's, while Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Maddy Neales (Orange, Calif.) went the first 3.0 innings in the circle, giving up three hits and three runs to go along with three punch outs. Alex Petrolia (Henderson, Nev.) and Lindsey Hughes (San Dimas, Calif.) then each got two outs out of the bullpen, both giving up just one hit.

Stony Brook heads up to Maine for a three-game conference series this weekend, playing a doubleheader on Saturday, April 15 and a single game on Sunday, April 16. All three games will be televised live on ESPN3/Watch ESPN.
