STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook softball split a pair of conference games vs. UMass Lowell on Saturday at University Field, topping the River Hawks 8-2 in Game 1, then falling 10-4 in Game 2.

Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) and
Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) both went 4-for-7 on the day, with four RBI's and two runs scored. Both Rahrich and Rivera blasted a pair of home runs in Stony Brook's Game 1 victory.
Freshman third baseman

Quoting Head Coach Megan T. Bryant
"I was really pleased with the overall effort in Game 1, pitching, defense and hitting. In Game 2 I think we just gave them too much, 14 free bases is too much. If you're going to do that, you've really got to put some numbers on the board."
