Corr's three-hit performance not enough, Seawolves fall vs. Monmouth

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook softball dropped a non-conference game to Monmouth on Monday afternoon at University Field, falling by the final score of 6-1. With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 11-25 (6-7 AEC) so far this season
 
Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) led the way offensively for the Seawolves, going 3-for-4 at the plate to raise her batting average to .311 in 2017.
 
Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) chipped in with a 2-for-2 effort of her own, raising her batting average to .206 in 2017.
 
Quoting Head Coach Megan T. Bryant
"We've got to learn from this, put it behind us, and get ready for Hartford on Wednesday. We need to just come ready to play every day."

Notes
  • Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.), a sophomore, now has seven multi-hit games this season. Her three hits are the most she's recorded in a game this year.
  • Lexie Shue (Lakewood, Calif.) now has three hits in her last eight plate appearances, and has added five multi-hit performances in 2017.
  • Senior center fielder Sami Duffy (Carmel, N.Y.) made a diving grab to begin the top of the seventh. Duffy, running to her left, fully extended to make the sprawling catch.
