SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Stony Brook men's soccer topped Bryant, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Soccer Field, earning its fifth win of the season during non-conference action. With the victory, the Seawolves move to 5-1-1 (4-0-1 in their last five contests).
Quoting Head Coach Ryan Anatol
"I'm pleased with the approach from our guys today. We created some good chances in the first half and got a deserved lead before the break. In the second half, Bryant battled and pushed us but we defended well and did what we needed to do to get the win."
Final: Stony Brook 1, Bryant 0.
- Serge Gamwanya (Trondheim, Norway) scored the goal for Stony Brook less than two minutes before the end of the first half, striking a penalty kick into the back of the net to make it 1-0 Seawolves. The goal – the junior's seventh career score – came following a Bryant handball inside the box.
- Tom McMahon (Nassau Bay, Texas) made one save before leaving the game in the second half. Jacob Braham (Cortlandt, N.Y.) recorded one save, as well, in his first action of 2017. For the Seawolves, it's the program's third shutout of the season.
