Stony Brook Returns Home to Host New Hampshire

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Coming off of a three-game road trip, the Stony Brook men's soccer team (6-4-2, 3-0-0 AE) returns home to battle New Hampshire on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. from LaValle Stadium.

The road trip saw the Seawolves go 1-1-1, as they picked up a win over Binghamton, a draw with then-No.21 Fordham and a loss to Penn State.

Seawolves Notes

  • The Seawolves enter play as the only America East team without a conference loss.
  • Tuesday night's loss to Penn State was the Seawolves' first loss in nearly a month, last falling to Hofstra on Sept. 12.
  • Senior Martieon Watson (Vessigny, Trinidad) is the current America East Co-Offensive Player of the Week after he scored the game-winning goal against Binghamton while also dishing out an assist.
  • Junior Kyle Honor (South Setauket, N.Y.) and sophomore Joey Landicino (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) both picked up their first-career starts for the Seawolves on Tuesday night.
  • Stony Brook was ranked No. 6 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region Top 10.
  • The Seawolves are 6-8-5 all-time against New Hampshire dating back to their first contest in 2001.
  • Stony Brook (16 points) was tabbed sixth in the America East preseason poll, just ahead of Hartford (12 points) and Binghamton (11 points). UMass Lowell (44 points), New Hampshire (42 points) and Albany (40 points) finished atop the poll heading into the new season.


Scouting New Hampshire

  • The Wildcats come into Saturday night's matchup at 8-2-1 (2-1-0 AE), most recently downing Albany, 2-1 on Oct. 5.
  • UNH is led by junior Antonio Colacci, who has accounted for eight points so far this season.
  • Goalkeeper Lars Huxsohl has started every contest for the Wildcats. He ranks second in the conference in goals against average at .622.
  • New Hampshire is coached by Marc Hubbard, who is in his fourth season. The Wildcats have won 10 games in each of his first three seasons.
  • UNH has been ranked as high as No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll this season.
  • The Wildcats made a run to the third round of the NCAA tournament last season, falling to then-No. 2 Indiana, 2-1.
