STONY BROOK, N.Y.-The Stony Brook volleyball team is set to begin its journey for a second straight America East Championship. The Seawolves will face #4 seed Hartford in the second semi-final on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The team enters the match riding a 15 game winning streak.
Scouting Hartford
The Hawks are coming off a 3-1 victory against Binghamton on Friday, and a 3-0 loss to UMBC on Sunday. Hartford is led by junior middle blocker Jenna Bridges, who is averaging 4.12 kills per set giving her a total of 342 in the regular season. Sophomore setter Megan Anderson also is an influence on the team's success. The Orono, Minnesota native averaged 10.52 assists per set in the regular season.
Last Time Out vs. Hartford
When the Seawolves faced the Hawks for the last time in the regular season, the team defeated them in three sets. Senior
McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) led the way with 12 kills and four blocks. Junior
LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) notched 30 assists in the victory.
Keep the Streak!
Since the five set loss to Bryant on September 14, the Seawolves have gone 15-0 in which 12 wins were against conference opponents. The 15 game winning streak is a program record as Division I.
Undefeated Regular Season Champs!
After the victory against UMBC on Friday, the Seawolves clinched their first America East regular season title since 2007.
After the victory against Binghamton on Sunday, the Seawolves ended the regular season undefeated against the conference. The team is the first undefeated regular season champions since 2009.

The Seawolves ended the regular season leading the conference in assists with 1,182 (95 SP), hitting percentage with .240 (95 SP) and kills with 1,272 (95).
Costello, Sakowicz Earn Weekly Honors

Emily Costello (Webster, N.Y.) and junior
LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) each earned weekly conference honors this week after leading the Seawolves to victories against UMBC and Binghamton. Costello was named America East Player of the Week, while Sakowicz earned Setter of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. This is Costello's second conference honor of 2018, and Sakowicz' eighth.
Costello averaged 5.00 kills per set in the 2-0 week for Stony Brook, giving her a total of 40. The Webster, New York native ended the regular season with 283 kills.
Sakowicz tallied 101 assists averaging 12.62 per set in the 2-0 week for the Seawolves. The Wauconda, Illinois native ended the regular season with 1,008 assists.
