Chuck Priore announced the team captains for the 2019 season on Monday as RB
Isaiah White (Gordon Heights, N.Y.), DB
Gavin Heslop (Yonkers, N.Y.) and DL
Sam Kamara (Carteret, N.J.).
All three will be seniors in 2019 and were elected by their teammates at the conclusion of this past season. The Seawolves just closed out the 2018 campaign that saw three wins over ranked opponents, a third-place finish in CAA Football and a return trip to the NCAA Division I Football Championship.
White, coming off a redshirt season and who began his career as a running back, moved to linebacker and is back on the offensive side of the ball again, has played in 29 career games for the Seawolves that include six games as a true freshman in which he collected 243 yards rushing on 62 carries. He was named second team All-CAA Football in 2017 for his efforts as a member of Stony Brook's special teams.
Heslop recently was named second team All-CAA Football as a corner back after he posted 59 total tackles, 10 pass break ups and scooped and scored on an 87-yard fumble recovery in the win over Richmond. Heslop has played in 33 career games with 25 starts and has recorded 144 total tackles and 22 pass break ups over his time on the field.
Kamara was also recently named second team All-CAA Football after he collected 36 total tackles and led the team with 6.5 sacks to go with 9.0 TFLs. For his career, Kamara has played in 33 games and started 28 times. He has 82 total tackles in his career with 16.5 TFLs and 10.0 sacks.
The 2019 Seawolves will kickoff the season on Aug. 31 in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium against Bryant and will get back to work on the practice field this spring on March 26 with the Spring Game scheduled for April 27.
