PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Stony Brook men's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Brown Bears 71-69 at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Redshirt-junior
Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) finished the afternoon with 23 points, while senior
Jaron Cornish (Abaco, Bahamas) added eight points, eight rebounds and five assists to help generate the Seawolves attack.

"It was a weird game today. It really came down to the hustle plays and 50/50 balls. To lose by two the way we played… it came down to one possession where we could've done something different. But Brown, the way they played, they deserved to win today."
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Seawolves started fast, taking six of the first eight points as Yeboah and Cornish both connected from beyond in the arc in the opening 2:17 of the game.
- Stony Brook's lead grew to 19-11 with 12:25 to go in the half on a three from redshirt sophomore Andrew Garcia (Harlem, N.Y.). Yeboah had nine of the first 16 at this point.
- Brown took its first lead on an Obi Okolie jumper with 4:57 left in the half, going up 25-23 on the Seawolves and taking that advantage into the locker room at 35-30.
- Stony Brook cut the lead as close as one early in the second half after a Cornish free throw made it 36-35 Bears with 17:35 on the clock, but Brown responded with an 8-1 spurt to distance themselves by seven.
- The lead ballooned as big as nine with 4:26 left as Tamenang Choh's layup made it 64-55, but the Seawolves fought back.
- Coach Boals' club got it to two on three separate occasions but was not able to get the tying basket.
NOTES
- Sophomore Anthony Ochefu (Westchester, Pa.)finished with a career-high 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He matched his career mark with five rebounds.
- Yeboah's 23-point outing is his fifth 20-point game of the season and his second straight after 25 against Manhattan on Wednesday night.
- Cornish's eight rebounds are a new season-high and his five assists are the most since he had eight at South Carolina on November 9.
- The Seawolves finished with a season-low nine turnovers and forced Brown to turn it over 14 times.
- Freshman Miles Latimer (Fairfax, Va.)matched his career high with three makes from beyond the arc, his second consecutive outing with this production form 3-point land.He was the third Seawolf in double figures, finishing with 11 points.
