VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's basketball team stumbled on the road as it fell to Binghamton, 69-57, at the Events Center Thursday night. The Seawolves move to 10-17 on the year, 5-8 in league play, while the Bearcats now sit at 11-16, 2-10 in the America East.
Boals' Reaction
"I thought this would be an energy game for us," said head coach
Jeff Boals. "Binghamton plays better at home than on the road, so getting out to a good start was a big key for us, but they went up 14-4 and we looked like we were just going through the motions. We just couldn't get over the hump multiple times and missed some easy ones in the paint."
Highlights
- An 11-0 run for Binghamton helped the team pull away early on. The Seawolves responded out of the first media timeout with five straight points, and eventually got back within one with just under seven minutes to play in the first half.
- The two teams traded buckets the rest of the way, but the Bearcats took a six-point lead into the break, 32-26.
- The back-and-forth play opened the second half, but a steady push by Binghamton returned the difference to double figures inside the midway point in the half.
- The Seawolves were able to get to the foul line late and knock them down, but the difference was too much to overcome.
Notes
- Redshirt sophomore
Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) led the way with his fourth double-double of the year, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- Senior
Junior Saintel (Mays Landing, N.J.) returned to double figures with 13 points, nine of which came in the first half.
