FORT MYERS. FLA – The Stony Brook softball team topped Wright State, 5-3, on the final day of the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament Sunday morning. The Seawolves now sit at 2-3 on the year following the opening weekend of play.

Highlights
- Sophomore Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) sent a double to right center in the top of the second, but the Seawolves were unable to bring her home.
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) got things going for the Seawolves in the fourth with a lead-off single to right field. Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a single by Pechin, scoring on a throwing error. After another error by Wright State Allyssa Malony (Runnemede, N.J.) singled to left field scoring Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Pechin.
- The Raiders responded in the bottom of the fourth after a solo home run and added another with the bases loaded.
- Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.) got the Seawolves started in the fifth with a single to right field. Rivera doubled to center field scoring Torres. Pechin sent a single out to center field to bring Rivera home and give the Seawolves a three-run lead.
- Wright State scored one more in the bottom of the seventh.

The Seawolves will travel to Riverside, California for a tournament running Friday, March 2 through Sunday, March 4. Stony Brook will face Saint Mary's, Brown, and UC Riverside through the weekend.
