Stony Brook Falls to East Carolina in Day Two of the James Madison Tournament

HARRISONBURG, VA. – The Stony Brook softball team completed day two of three at the James Madison Tournament falling to East Carolina.  
 
Game 1: East Carolina 16, Stony Brook 3
  • East Carolina got on the board first in the top of the second inning scoring five runs off of five hits.  
  • The Pirates added to their lead in the top of the third scoring seven runs on four hits.  
  • Stony Brook got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) got things going to for the Seawolves by drawing walks. Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) singled up the middle to score McCarvill.
  • East Carolina tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead.  
  • Stony Brook fought back in the bottom of the fifth after Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) singled up the middle and then scored after Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) hit a home run to left field.

The Seawolves remain in Harrisonburg for two more game on Sunday, March 18th. They will take on East Carolina at 8:30 a.m., before facing Ohio at 10:00 a.m.
