STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook softball team opened up conference Saturday, March 31. The Seawolves took down the Great Danes in game one, but then fell in game two.
Game 1
Stony Brook 2, Albany 0
- After five quick inning on both sides. Stony Brook struck first in the bottom of the fifth when Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) hit her first home run of her career sending one over the center field fence.
- The Seawolves would add on to their lead in the bottom of the sixth when Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) hit a solo home run over the left field fence.
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) threw a one hitting while striking out six.
Game 2
Albany 5, Stony Brook 3
- Albany got on the board first in the top of the first inning scoring one run on two hits.
- Melissa Rahrich would tie the game for the Seawolves hitting her first home run of the season in the bottom of the first.
- After four quick scoreless innings the Seawolves got things going in the bottom of the fifth scoring two runs on two hits to take the lead, 3-1
- The Danes fought back in the top of the sixth tying the game at 3-3.
- Albany took the lead in the top of the eighth inning scoring two runs off of two hits.
