Rivera's Home Run Not Enough, Stony Brook Falls to Albany

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook softball team fell in the final game of the series to Albany on April, 1st.

Bryant's Reaction
"We had opportunities to plate more runs in this game but did not capitalize on those situations. Productive at bats and timely hits are key to momentum and we had our chances to put more pressure on Albany than we did," said head coach Megan T. Bryant

Albany 5, Stony Brook 2
  • The Great Danes got on the board first in the top of the second scoring three runs on three hits.
  • After two quick innings Stony Brook got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) drew a two out walk with bases loaded to cut the Danes lead to 3-1.
  • Albany added to their lead in the top of the fifth hitting a solo home run increasing their lead to 4-1.
  • The Great Danes added one more run in the top of the seventh on two hits extending their lead.
  • In the bottom of the seventh inning Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Cali.) hit her first home run of the year cutting the Danes lead to 5-2.
