Seawolves drop final game of HIghlander Classic

RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – The Stony Brook softball team fell to Saint Mary's 7-1, on the final day of the Highlander Classic Sunday morning. The Seawolves now sit at 4-6 on the year.

Bryant's Reaction
"Our efforts and energy were not what we needed them to be today. St. Mary's came right at us from the start, and we did not respond. It's back to work this week to get ready for the FAU tournament," said head coach Megan T. Bryant.

Highlights
  • The Gaels got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning and added to their lead in the third.
  • Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.) picked up the Seawolves first hit of the game in the top of the fourth.
  • Saint Mary's tacked on their third run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning, to lead the Seawolves 3-0.
  • Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) singled down the left field line to get the Seawolves started in the top of the six. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) sent a double to left field scoring Rahrich to cut the Gaels' lead to 3-1.
  • Saint Mary's responded in the bottom of the sixth tacking on four more runs on four hits.
  • Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) tried to keep the Seawolves alive in the top of the seventh with a single through the left side but would not score.
