Boca Raton, Fla. – The Stony Brook softball team finished the first of three days at the FAU Parents Weekend Tournament with a 1-1 record. In their first game of the day, the Seawolves fell to Michigan 7-0, but bounced back in the second game to defeat Rutgers 5-2.

"It was great to see us come back after the Michigan game and put together a solid team effort to defeat Rutgers. Taylor threw a good game, we were productive offensively and we played with synergy," said head coach

Game 1: Michigan 7, Stony Brook 0
- Sophomore, Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) started off the game with single to left field and would advance to send on a fielder's choice.
- Michigan got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning scoring two runs off of two hits.
- Stony Brook threaten in the top of the fourth when Ileana Torress (Debary, Fla.) lead off the inning with a triple down the left field line.
- The Wolverines pick up one more run in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 3-0.
- Torres picked up her second hit of the game with a single through the left side in the top of the fifth.
- Michigan tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 7-0.
Game 2: Stony Brook 5, Rutgers 2
- The Seawolves got on the board first in the bottom of the second. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) started off the inning with a walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.). Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) doubled to left center scoring Pechin. Evans then scored on a single to left by Allyssa Malony (Runnemede, N.J.) to lead 2-0.
- Rutgers responded in the top of the fifth and tied the game 2-2.
- Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) got the Seawolves going in the bottom of the fifth with a walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) singled to right field to bring home Corr. Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) doubled to center field to score Rahrich and extend Stony Brook's lead.
