STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The Stony Brook softball team traveled to Baltimore, Maryland for a midweek conference double header with UMBC. The Seawolves recorded 24 hits in the two games.

"It was great to see us take the same approach we had in the seventh inning of game one into game two and maintain it throughout the game. Taylor had a solid outing and it was important to close it out in five," said head coach

Game 1: UMBC 9, Stony Brook 7
- The Retrievers got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning scoring three runs on two hits.
- Stony Brook got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) started the inning off with a single to right field then scored when Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) sent one over the center field fence to cut UMBC's lead 2-3.
- UMBC fought back to extend their lead in the bottom of the fourth scoring one run on three hits.
- The Retrievers added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth scoring three runs on four hits to make the score 2-7.
- UMBC picked up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth scoring two runs on two hits.
- The Seawolves started a rally in the top of the seventh. Lindsey Hughes (San Dimas, Calif.) pitch hit and drew a lead-off walk. Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) and Melissa Rahrich singled to load the bases. Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) cleared the bases hitting a grand slam over the center field fence. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) doubled to right center and then scored on a double to left field by Katelyn Corr.
Game 2: Stony Brook 12, UMBC 2
- UMBC got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning scoring one run on two hits.
- The Seawolves took the lead in the top of the second scoring five runs on three hits and three UMBC errors.
- Stony Brook added to their lead in the top of the thrid inning when Taylor Pechin lead off with a walk. Katelyn Corr and Lindsey Hughes hit back to back singles to load the bases. Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) singled up the middle to make the score 5-1.
- The Seawolves extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning. Melissa Rahrich got things going with a single up the middle and Irene Rivera followed with a walk. Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) doubled to left center to make it 10-1.
- The Retrievers picked up one run on one hit and two Stony Brook errors to cut the Seawolves lead to 10-2
- Stony Brook extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning when Riley Craig singled with bases loaded scoring two runs.
