NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.—The Stony Brook softball team traveled to New Rochelle, New York for their second of six games this week.

"This was a pretty solid all-around effort for us. Mel threw a great game and was in a good rhythm. Our defense did well and it was good to see our hitters attacking pitches when we had two strikes," said head coach

Stony Brook 6, Iona 0
- Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) got the Seawolves going in the top of the first with a single to center field. Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) singled to right field advancing Hering to second. Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) doubled to right center scoring Hering and moving Rahrich to third. Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) singled to center field scoring Rahrich and loading the bases. Stony Brook picked up their final run of the inning after Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) walked with bases loaded scoring Rivera.
- Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.) hit her first home run of her career in the top of the sixth. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) recorded her seventh home run of the year sending one over the center field fence to make Stony Brook's lead 6-0.
- Rahrich threw her fourth shutout of the season in the win.
