STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The Stony Brook softball faced off with No. 24 Hofstra on Thursday, April 26
th in a mid-week single game. Hofstra is the second ranked opponent Stony Brook has competed against this season.
Bryant's Thoughts
"Hofstra is a very good team yet this was a winnable game for us. We opened the door for them in the sixth by not making some plays and as good teams do, they took advantage. It's never too late in the season to learn and this was a lesson for us," said head coach
Megan T. Bryant.
Highlights
- Hofstra struck first scoring one run on two hits in the top of the second inning.
- After three quick innings of play on both ends the Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Evans advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) and then scored on a double to left center by Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.). Hofstra walked the bases loaded and then Torres scored on a wild pitch to take the lead 2-1.
- The Pride answered in the top of the sixth inning scoring three runs on three hits to take the lead back.
- In the top of the seventh Hofstra added to their lead scoring one run on two hits to make the score 5-2.
