Stony Brook Drops Both Games to UMass Lowell

LOWELL, MASS. – The Stony Brook softball team dropped two games to UMass Lowell on Saturday, April 28th.

Game One: UMass Lowell 4, Stony Brook 0
  • Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) tried to get Stony Brook going in the top of the first hitting with a two out double down the left field line.
  • In the bottom of the second inning the River Hawks got on the board with a solo home run to lead Stony Brook 1-0. 
  • UMass Lowell added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on two hits. 
  • The River Hawks would extend their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
  • With two outs in the top of the seventh Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) singled through the middle to keep the Seawolves alive, unfortunately it would end there.  
 
Game Two: UMass Lowell 6, Stony Brook 0
  • The River Hawks would keep their momentum into the second game scoring one run on one hit in the bottom of the first inning. 
  • UMass Lowell would extend their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning score two runs on four hits.
  • The River Hawks added to their lead in the bottom of the third scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. 
  • Melissa Rahrich would pick up Stony Brook's first hit with a single to left field in the top of the fourth inning.

The Seawolves will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday, April 29 against UMass Lowell at 12:00 p.m.
