BRONX, N.Y. – For the second straight Saturday, Stony Brook football senior running backs
Jordan Gowins (Bellport, N.Y.) and
Donald Liotine (Medford, N.Y.) each gained over 100 rushing yards to lead the Seawolves to a victory.
This time the duo combined for 266 yards and each scored a touchdown in the 28-6 victory over Fordham at Jack Coffey Field in Stony Brook's (2-1) final non-conference game of the season.
SCORING
- Stony Brook got on the board first with a pick six by DL Jordan Scarbrough. Scarbrough returned the interception 25 yards for the touchdown with 13:38 left in the first quarter. The PAT by Nick Courtney was good.
- The Seawolves added to their first-half lead when QB Joe Carbone hit WR Nick Anderson in the corner of the endzone on a 26-yard strike. The PAT by Nick Courtney was good. The drive was 10 plays for 76 yards and took 4:40 off the clock.
- Stony Brook tacked on another seven points after recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and two plays later RB Jordan Gowins reached the endzone from nine-yards out with 13:22 left in the second quarter. The PAT by Nick Courtney was good. The drive was two plays for 24 yards and took 12 seconds.
- RB Donald Liotine got the Seawolves' second half scoring started on the first play from scrimmage. He scampered 75 yards for the touchdown. The PAT by Nick Courtney was good. The drive was one play for 75 yards and took 12 seconds.
- Fordham got on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter when QB Tim DeMorat found WR Corey Caddle on 29-yard pass. The PAT was no good. The drive was six plays for 74 yards and took 2:03 off the clock.
THE NUMBERS
- Stony Brook gained 482 yards of total offense on 80 plays. Fordham had 238 yards of total offense on 62 plays.
- The Seawolves had the ball for 36:05 minutes of the game.
- PASSING: Stony Brook 12-26-0 for 171 yards, 1 touchdown. Fordham: 22-47-3 for 245 yards, 1 touchdown.
- RUSHING: Stony Brook: 54 carries for 311 yards, two touchdowns. Fordham: 15 carries for -6 yards.
- RB Jordan Gowins had 160 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. RB Donald Liotine gained 106 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown.
- QB Joe Carbone had 145 passing yards with one touchdown.
- DB Augie Contressa had six tackles.
- DL Jordan Scarbrough returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown.
QUOTING THE SEAWOLVES

"We needed to play physical on both sides of the ball and we did that. We kept them (Fordham) out of the endzone until three minutes to go in the game, which was important. We dominated defensively for most of the game. Overall, I'm pleased, but we need to get better."
NOTES
- DL Jordan Scarbrough returned an interception 25 yards in the first quarter for a touchdown. The pick was the first of the junior's career and the pick six was the third for Stony Brook this season.
- LB Shayne Lawless intercepted a pass in the first quarter, the second pick of the senior's career.
- RB Jordan Gowins posted his 10th career rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
- Gowins recorded his second straight 100-yard rushing game and the fourth of his career. He gained 160 yards against Fordham.
- Gowins gained a career-high 160 yards on the ground against Fordham. That total surpassed his previous career-high of 146 collected last week against Bryant.
- WR Nick Anderson pulled down the first career receiving touchdown with a 26-yard catch in the corner of the endzone on a pass from QB Joe Carbone.
- Anderson equaled his career-best with three receptions and recorded a career-high 68 yards.
- Carbone tossed a second-quarter touchdown pass to WR Nick Anderson. It was Carbone's 30th career touchdown pass, moving him into a tie for fifth-place on Stony Brook's career list.
- RB Donald Liotine crossed the goal line for the 18th time in his career on the ground with his 75-yard rush in the third quarter. The run was the lonest of Liotine's career and the longest by a Stony Brook player since Stacey Bedell also rattled off a 75-yard run at Rhode Island on Nov. 15, 2014.
- Liotine reached 100-yards rushing against Fordham with 106 yards to mark the sixth 100-yard game of his career.
- With both Liotine and Gowins gaining over 100 yards against Fordham, it marks the second time in as many games that the duo accomplished the feat.
- Liotine collected 160 all-purpose yards against Fordham to give him 2,946 for his career to move him up three spots on the career list into sixth-place.
- Today's first-time players for Stony Brook were: LB Reidgee Dimanche and WR Delante Hellams Jr.
- Captains for tonight's game were QB Joe Carbone, TE Cal Daniels, DE John Haggart, LB Noah McGinty and LB Shayne Lawless.
