QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team fell at St. John's, 5-1, at Belson Stadium Sunday night. The Seawolves got on the board first, but a strong second half for the Red Storm decided the game. Stony Brook moves to 2-4 on the year, while St. John's now sits at 3-3.Â
Faherty's Reaction
"Tonight we were out-coached, and lost to a team that played with a much higher soccer IQ than our team did," said head coach
Brendan Faherty. "The good news is, it only counts as one loss and not five. We need to have a short memory in terms of the results, but need to learn from our mistakes.
"We are probably the only team to not play a home game yet, and we are excited to put on a better performance on Thursday night on the new turf at LaValle. Lastly, congratulations to St. John's on a well-played game and to their coach, Ian Stone, on celebrating his 25th year on the sidelines in Queens."
Highlights
- Stony Brook got out to a hot start after senior
Julie Johnstonbaugh (Neshanic Station, N.J.) settled a pass from sophomore

- In the 24th minute St. John's put away the equalizer as Zsani Kajan beat sophomore
Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) to score.Â
- The game remained even through the first 45 minutes, despite St. John's taking a 6-3 shooting edge into the break.Â
- The Red Storm took its first lead of the night with a goal in the 49th minute and continued to apply pressure offensively, adding three more goals before the 90th minute.Â
