STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's soccer team (2-2-0) hits the road to take on Siena on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1:00 p.m. from Siena Turf Field.

Seawolves Notes

  • The Seawolves are coming off a 2-1 victory over St. Joseph's on Wednesday. Senior Serge Gamwanya (Trondheim, Norway) netted the game-winning goal in the 87th minute.
  • Gamwanya, who scored twice on Wednesday, tied junior Jarred Dass (Marabella, Trinidad) for the team lead with two goals.
  • Stony Brook has outshot its opponents in three straight games, winning two of those games.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Christian Miesch (Brig, Switzerland) has tallied every minute in goal so far this season for the Seawolves, playing to a .762 save percentage.
  • The Seawolves (16 points) were tabbed sixth in the America East preseason poll, just ahead of Hartford (12 points) and Binghamton (11 points). UMass Lowell (44 points), New Hampshire (42 points) and Albany (40 points) finished atop the poll heading into the new season.
Scouting Siena
  • The Saints sit at 0-2-2 this season after falling to Lafayette, 2-1 on Tuesday.
  • Aaron Martin leads Siena with two goals on the season. The freshman has taken home two consecutive MAAC Rookie of the Week Awards.
  • Freshman Greg Monroe has tallied most of the minutes in goal this year and comes into Saturday with a save percentage of .743%.
  • Siena is led by head coach Cesar Markovic, who is currently in his fifth season. After spending seven seasons at Stony Brook, Markovic has posted a 33-38-13 record in Loudonville.
  • The Saints were picked 9th of 11 teams in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
In the Ranks
  • Senior Martieon Watson (Vessigny, Trinidad) leads the America East with three assists on the year.
  • Miesch, who has made 16 saves so far this season, ranks 2nd in the America East among goalies.
