PULLMAN, WA– The Stony Brook volleyball team fell to Illinois State 3-0 (13-25, 20-25, 11-25) and defeated McNeese State 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-21) on the first day of the Washington Tournament.
Coach Belzung's Reaction
"Illinois State is a very good team on both sides of the ball and their tempo kept us off balance all match. We need to find a way to decrease our serving and passing errors to be able to fight with a team this balanced, and allow our defense a fighting chance."
"Congratulations to McKyla for earning her 1,000th kill tonight. To achieve that milestone as a middle is incredibly difficult especially as teams start to focus on her. Credit her for taking as much pride in her kills as she does for creating opportunities for her teammates to score."
"McNeese State was a challenging match. The have played a very tough preseason and ran a very fast tempo that stressed our discipline defensively. It was great to get a sweep even though we lacked focus at times. We close our trip out West with #23 Washington State who will be a very physical team."
