STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's basketball team fell to Hartford, 64-36, in its America East opener on Wednesday night at the Island Federal Arena. This marks the first contest the team has dropped at home this season after coming in 7-0 on its home court.Â

"Give credit to Hartford. They came in and really executed their game plan. They try and turn you over and they did a great job of that against us tonight. We weren't composed and didn't handle their press well and that's who they are. We have to improve moving forward."

HIGHLIGHTS
- The first quarter was close between the two teams as Hartford had a slight 17-14 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
- The Hawks started out the game on a 6-0 run, which was snapped by sophomore G/F Hailey Zeise (Pittsburgh, Pa.) as she recorded five-straight points.
- Stony Brook took the lead with 1:41 left in the first period as sophomore F McKenzie Bushee (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tied the game with a layup to make it 12-12 and Sophomore F India Pagan (New London, Conn.) put in another one to grab the two-point advantage.Â
- It was all Hartford for the rest of the game however, holding the Seawolves to just 22 points over the final three quarters. Â
NOTES
- Pagan and freshman G Anastasia Warren (Atlanta, Ga.) led the charge with eight points each.
- Pagan was close to earning her first-career double-double as she also grabbed nine rebounds, which ties her career high.
- Warren also nabbed a career's best in rebounds, pulling down seven.
- Sophomore G/F Jonae Cox (Portsmouth, Va.) tied her career-best in assists with three helpers.
- Stony Brook held Hartford below its three-point field goal percentage (29.9 percent) as the Hawks only hit 20 percent of its shots from behind the arc (5-25).
- The Seawolves also out-rebounded its opponent by a margin of 43-34.
