STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The Stony Brook women's tennis team is set to travel to Florida Atlantic for the FAU Owl Cup. The Seawolves will compete against Northwestern State, ASA, and FAU. The tournament is Friday through Sunday, and play starts at 9:30 am each day.
Coach Glassman's Thoughts
"We're extremely excited to kick off our spring season.The squad worked very hard in the off-season and now it's time to see how we stack up. The Owl Cup will be a good indicator as to where we stand and what we need to focus on," said head coach

In the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll, the Seawolves were selected to finish first. The team received five first-place votes, along with 44 points. Rounding out the rest of the poll was Illinois State in second, followed by Drake, Missouri State, Bradley, UNI, and Valparaiso.
Last Time Out
Stony Brook started off the 2018-2019 season strong taking home multiple titles at the MVC Individual Championship in October. In singles,
Maria Pinto Ribeiro (No. 2) and
Ana Carrion-Rodriguez (No. 4) were champions. In doubles, Ribeiro and
Sasha Bekirova won at No. 2 and
Jamie Wei and
Nolwenn Cardoso won at No. 1.
Keeping it Fresh
On the team of nine, five are freshman. This group is made up of
Sasha Bekirova,
Jamie Wei,
Mia Wong,
Anastasia Koniaev, and
Loreto Villalba-Rubio. Villalba-Rubio joins the squad this month, transferring in from Málaga, Spain.
