STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking match to UAlbany on Friday night at Pritchard Gym. After trading set wins in the first four stanzas, the Seawolves (6-12, 1-2 AE) dropped the decisive, high-scoring fifth set to just come short of a huge America East victory (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 19-25, 18-20).
Despite the result, junior
Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) etched her named into the Stony Brook record books as her 30 digs on the evening put her at ninth in program history in career digs (1,254).
Coach Belzung's Reaction
"Tonight was a battle to the end which is what we expect from a matchup with Albany. I thought we had our chances and missed opportunities to execute defensive responsibilities down the stretch. Credit to Albany for keeping the pressure on us but we need to shore up to be the team we want to be at the end of the year. We have a short turnaround to prep for a gritty UMBC team on Sunday."
