VILLANOVA, Pa. -- When Stony Brook football redshirt sophomore DL Casey Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./South Philadelphia) is asked about what motivates him, only one thing comes to mind and that one thing is his mother.

"People ask me that all the time and I give them one answer. My mother," Williams said. "She worked so hard in a single parent home and did everything she could to make sure I am where I am right now. I couldn't ask for more and I owe everything to her."

And this Saturday, Williams gets to play in front of his mother as the Seawolves face fifth-ranked Villanova at 3:30 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.

"I'm super excited to be going home to play in front of my family and friends," added Williams. "I have had endless people asking me about coming to the game. I have to see how many tickets I can get."

Williams, who started his collegiate career at Temple in Philadelphia, made the transition to Stony Brook prior to the 2018 season and has made his mark on the program in just over a season and a half.

He has played in 19 games with 15 starts on the defensive line and has recorded 64 total tackles that includes 7.0 sacks and 13.0 tackles-for-loss. He has also blocked three kicks during his time with the Seawolves, including a blocked punt that he returned for a touchdown last season against Bryant.

"There was lot to the process," said Williams about his move from Temple to Stony Brook. "For me I just had to take it in stride. I didn't want to leave because of my family in Philly and everything, but I have a great home here and it is going to be good to go back and be in my environment when we play on Saturday."

Williams journey to the college level wasn't easy either.

"I worked heavily with Focus Athletics, a non-profit group that helps athletes get to the next level in the class room and on the field," Williams said. "I was trying to get that edge and get seen. In South Philadelphia, my old high school, I was the only one to come out that went to a Division I college. It was just good to know that I had people in my corner."

THE SERIES
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams and just the third since Stony Brook joined the league in 2013. The Seawolves own a 2-1 series lead, but the lone meeting at Villanova was won by the Wildcats back in 2013. (Complete series history on page 4).
