ALBANY, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team saw its season come to a close on Friday night as the No. 4 Seawolves fell to No. 1 UAlbany in the semifinals of the America East Championship at University Gym (23-25, 25-20, 16-25, 22-25).
The Seawolves end the 2019 season with a 9-17 (4-6 AE) record and had two team members earn major awards from the America East. Senior
LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) leaves her mark on the program as the two-time America East Setter of the Year while junior
Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) was the first-ever Seawolf named the Defensive Specialist of the Year.

"Thank you to these six seniors who have meant so much to our program. This isn't the ending we had in mind but this group brought back-to-back America East Championships to Stony Brook and have been incredible people and members of our University and athletic department. We know the future is bright and it's thanks to the foundation they laid."

- Three Seawolves reached double-figures in kills as senior
Maria Poole (Stavanger, Norway), senior
Liz Pulver (Temecula, Calif) and redshirt freshman
Enitan Omolewa (Laurel, Md.) notched tallies of 15, 11 and 10.
- Omolewa and Poole were especially productive, hitting .500 and .387.
- Sakowicz earned a double-double from 44 assists and 11 digs.
- Along with Sakowicz, three other players notched 10-plus digs.
- Kerstetter led the way with 17 while senior
Kardasia Hitchcock (Alexander City, Ala.) and sophomore
Paige Jaeger (Oconomowoc, Wis.) had 12 and 10.
Notes
- Sakowicz, the two-time America East Setter of the Year, closes out her career at Stony Brook ranking fourth all-time in career assists (3,292) and eighth in career assists per set (8.38).
- Kerstetter, the current Defensive Specialist of the Year, ends her junior season at No. 5 in career digs (1,396) and is tied for sixth in single-season digs per set (4.29).
