Trio of Seawolves Reach Double-Figures in Kills as Stony Brook Bows Out of America East Championship

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team saw its season come to a close on Friday night as the No. 4 Seawolves fell to No. 1 UAlbany in the semifinals of the America East Championship at University Gym (23-25, 25-20, 16-25, 22-25).

The Seawolves end the 2019 season with a 9-17 (4-6 AE) record and had two team members earn major awards from the America East. Senior LeAnne Sakowicz (Wauconda, Ill.) leaves her mark on the program as the two-time America East Setter of the Year while junior Kiani Kerstetter (Cardiff, Calif.) was the first-ever Seawolf named the Defensive Specialist of the Year.

Coach Belzung's Reaction
"Thank you to these six seniors who have meant so much to our program. This isn't the ending we had in mind but this group brought back-to-back America East Championships to Stony Brook and have been incredible people and members of our University and athletic department. We know the future is bright and it's thanks to the foundation they laid."
