STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Powered by a 36-11 stretch that spanned just over 18 minutes, the Stony Brook men's basketball team cruised to its second straight home win on Monday night, defeating Manhattan 65-47 in front of 2,081 fans at Island Federal Arena.
Juniors
Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.) and

FORD'S REACTION
"I really like our group. I love our chemistry and I take from this game that we can win against another style. We won against teams in Texas that pressed a lot but also walked it up and played a more traditional game".
FLOW OF THE GAME
- The teams went back and forth to start the game, with an Olaniyi layup pulling Stony Brook ahead 6-5 before the first media timeout.
- A three from the New Jersey native was sandwiched between a pair of Manhattan triples on three straight possessions. The latter of the threes tied the game at the 14:34 mark.
- The Seawolves' first big push was of the 12-1 variety over a 5:32 span in which they held Manhattan to 0-for-6 shooting, while the hosts made five of their 11 shots from the field.
- After the Jaspers cut the lead to five, Stony Brook finished the half on a 14-4 spurt in which Garcia scored half of the Seawolves' points.
- Stony Brook started the second the way they ended the first, scoring the first 10 out of the gates to extend the lead to 25.
- The home team ballooned the lead as big as 30 with 5:23 to play at 65-35 but were held scoreless the rest of the way.
