Osmer’s Bases Clearing Triple Leads Stony Brook Past George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Stony Brook softball team split day one of the Buff and Blue Challenge on Friday taking down George Washington 6-5, and fell short to Georgetown 4-3.

COACH BRYANT'S THOUGHTS
"It was great to bounce back after the tough loss in game one. We had a more productive offensive approach, played solid defense and our pitching staff did their job. It's all about getting better each day, and we did today."

GAME 1: GEORGETOWN 4, STONY BROOK 3
  • The Seawolves got on the board first in the top of the fourth after Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) was hit by a pitch, advanced to second after Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) walked, and was brought home on an RBI single by Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.).
  • Stony Brook increased its lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth after Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) walked, Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) was hit by a pitch, and Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) drove them home on an RBI double.
  • The Hoyas brought home two in the bottom of the fifth after a leadoff triple came around to score on an RBI single making it 3-1, and then made it 3-2 after a run scored on an error.
  • Georgetown tied the game on a leadoff homer by Noelle Holiday in the bottom of the sixth.
  • The Hoyas brought home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh after a batter reached base on an error, advanced to second, and was driven in by an RBI single.
